Best Classic Movies of 70’s

Classic films that we watched now are the universal favorites of the past few years; it is become a part also of American culture. This film has a difference in the films now when it comes to visual and style. Some classic films are black and white colored and have an old songs theme.

The Godfather (1972)

It is an American film that was released on 1972. This film was directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It was a crime film that talks about assassins or a so called gangster. The story revolves with Michael Corleone s transformation in his life and the rivals between his family and other assassins that deals with drug business. His father Vito Corleone doesn’t agree on the rivals wish, which is the Tattaglias, and with that his family encounters a threat and was attacked. At the end, Michael s brother Sonny was died and also his father Vito, and soon Michael Corleone was the one who accepts the role of his father and was addressed as the new Don Corleone. This was the highest grossing fim of 1972 and had won three Oscars Award including the Best Actor, Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Barry Lyndon (1975)

It is a British-American drama film that was released on 1975. It was written, directed and produced by Stanley Kubrick.

The story talks about the life of Barry that was sent to Germany to fight a war. After the war he becomes a servant of a professional gambler that makes him encounters many high class people and also have a duel. He notice that his life was nowhere, he decided to marry the wealthy Countess of Lyndon and then later they were married. He marries the lady because of her money and was spend all those money for nothing, but her son don’t agree and don’t like Barry as his stepfather and make a deal with Barry to give 500 guineas per year for life and leave his mother and don’t ever see it again. After he back to Ireland he resumes his old work which is the gambling. This film had won four Oscar’s award in different category and has been rated as one of the greatest films ever made.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)

It is an American drama film that was released on 1975 that was directed by Miloš Forman. The story focused on Randle Patrick “Mac “Mc Murphy that was sentence on prison for raping a 15-year old girl and soon he was transferred to a mental institution to evaluates him. In the hospital he meets many ill patients and also the nurse who shows unpleasant treatment and a bad attitude to them to make the patients feared on her, and with that they want to escape and live outside. Their planned had never come true because of Mc Murphy’s condition and only the Chief have escape. This film had won five major Academy Awards which includes Actor in Lead Role, Actress in Lead Role, Best Picture and Director and Screenplay.

Paper Moon (1973)

It is an American drama and comedy film that was released on 1973 and directed by Peter Bogdavonich. The story focused on Moses Pray and a nine year old Addie Loggins that was speculated his daughter but he denies. He was the one who will deliver Addie on her aunt’s house in St. Joseph, Missouri. As their journey to go in Missouri, many things had Moses do to have money and also pretends, Addie sees all what he do and had join also his doings in pretending to have much money. He steals on a store and had quickly arrest by the sheriff. At the end, Moses brought Addie on her aunt’s house and took his journey on his own. He has stopped for a while to make his truck cool down and was noticed an envelope that has a picture of Addie sitting on a crescent moon. He glanced on his side mirror a little girl running towards him and that was her that escapes to her house and wants to join Mosses again.

This would be the films of our grandfather or parents are favorite, or I think even us wants it when we have finally done watching it. Classic is easily recognized as past films that are historical in our present status now. It would help also us to distinguish the films in past years and the films now.  Actually there is no difference in it, it’s just that it has different features or appeal on screen, but in our time now, we can try to watch or be your favorite in it because it was also become a part of film industry in our world.

 

Back to the Future

A comic fiction film was that was released on 1985. It was written by Bob Gate and Zemeckis. It became the most successful film in year 1985 after it was exactly released on July 3, 1985.

It is a story of a teenager named Marty McFly. His parents are both don’t have an ambition and also an alcoholic one. He has a friend or should we say a scientist friend named Doc which have a time machine that able to go to the past or their future life. Then accidentally Marty was the one who is sent back in past which is in the year 1955. He saw there his young parents and he wants that to change the status of doing in their life. He helps his dad because there is one classmate of him that keep on bullying. He had done also a plan to make his parents have their first kiss. At the end, he came back in present and seen the changes of his parents compared to their last situation, they are both successful person now.

 

 

Fast Times at Ridgemont High  

A 1982 film that was written by Cameron Crowe. It is an American teen film.

A story focus on Brad Hamilton which is a senior  that thinking back of his past years in his school. It focuses also in Stacy Hamilton which is Brad’s sister. She wants to experienced to have a relationship and tries dating boys, then suddenly loosed her virginity during her first met to that guy.

It talks about the life of a teenager that is not being cared by their parents. Some are drug addict and making their life miserable.

 

 

Aliens

An American fiction film that was released on 1986. It was written  by James Cameron.

It was focused on Aliens and Ellen Ripley which  wants to return in the planet where she sees and encounters aliens. They had disturbed the aliens and shoot the small eggs of it, and with that they was attacked by an alien.

It is a science fiction which was make us feel scared and excite. It is also a thriller one that makes every scene beautiful.

 

 

The Princess Bride

A romantic film that was released on 1987 and was directed by Rob Reiner.

The story was started on reading a story to his grandson that was done by his grandfather. It starts with a sweet love story of a young lady named Buttercup and the farm boy named Westley. He likes to say the word ” as you wish ” which is soon revealed that it means ” I love you “. Buttercup loves him too. Then suddenly Westley have attacked by the Dread Pirates Robert and she knows that it was already dead.

After five years she agreed to marry Prince Humperdick that was a bad one. Westley had arrived to rescue her and to fight for her love after so many years. At the end the two lived happily.This classic film was one of the best romantic classic movies of the 80’s.

It represents us the happening, culture, and style in the past years. We can actually go back or have a flashback of what are movies in 90’s.

The Shawshank Redemption (Year 1994)

An epic film that was released on 1994 and written by Frank Darabont. It is a story about a banker who is sentenced in prison of murdering his wife and his lover, he claims his innocence but it was rejected. During his stay there he became friends of a circles of people there including the warden. He was used there to a business transaction, which is the money laundering inside. It talks about the life of a prison man inside, and how it affects to him to his whole life.

It receives a multiple award nominations and reviews for its acting and a true to life story that is happening or the realism.

Home Alone (Year 1990)

A comedy film that is perfect for the whole family. It is about an eight-year old brat boy that was accidentally left by his family in their house. He assumes that his wishes do come true to have no family but his happiness once disturb by two men who wants to rob their house and he was obliged to protect his home.

It is written by John Hughes and was released on November 16, 1990. Home Alone was the highest-grossing comedy of all time. It talks about the importance of a family in an individual and to appreciate what you have in life and cherish it because you have.

Toy Story (Year 1995)

An animated comedy film, it was the first feature computer-animated and theatrical film produced by Pixar. It was written by John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Joel Cohen, Alec Sokolow and Josh Whedon. It is a story about Woody, a cowboy toy and the boy named Andy Davis, the owner. They pretend to be lifeless when humans are present. The adventure begins when one of them is missing and they have to find it. It is a funny one and a very entertaining film especially to children and of course in adults. It focuses on friendship between a group of toys.

Titanic (Year 1997)

An epic story although romantic that was released on December 19, 1997 and was nominated for fourteen Academy Awards. This story is all about two people that have a different social class in life who falls in love with each other on their first met during their aboard in a ship. This movie was an unforgettable one to watch, even if until now. It definitely makes viewers cry. If you don’t watch it until now, you miss a certain piece that will make you feel how life is beautiful and the word love can do to an individual.

The film was really good because of the stars, Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg and Tony Goldwyn. The story was written by Bruce Joel Rubin and been directed by Jerry Sucker. The film story’s plot was about lovers (Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore) that love each other so much, but because being greedy to money and also have interest to the girl of his best friend (Tony Goldwyn). He hired a killer to kill Patrick Swayze, so that he can get the money and the girlfriend (Demi Moore) of his best friend. The power of love and help of a friend (Whoopi Goldberg), even though he is a ghost (Patrick Swayze) he figures out the dark plan of his best friend (Tony Goldwyn). It is really hard for him to move in the world of the living but because of the love for his girlfriend he make many impossible things just like holding things around the world of the living and by the help of (Whoopi Goldberg) he can send his message to his very love one and protect her to his evil best friend (Tony Goldwyn). At the end he completes all things that he needs to finish before he goes to heaven.

The Sound of Music was exactly released March 2, 1965 in United State of America and March 29, 1965 in United Kingdom. This film was based of the story of “The Sound of Music” Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse and originated story “The Story of Trapp Family Singer” by Maria Von Trapp. The star artists of this film were Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The music and lyrics was performed by Richard Rodgers.

The film is about a girl (Maria) that is so very jolly. She were in the convent in the first place but because of some reasons she was sent to the house of the family Von Trapp to be a teacher of the seven children of Captain Von Trapp and baby sit the little children of Capt. Von Trapp. At the first that she was introducing to the children they didn’t want Maria to be the teacher and baby sitter especially the eldest daughter of Capt. Von Trapp. When the time past by and the children knows how a wonderful and very kind person Maria was they like her so much and start singing songs. The story was happen in the time that Adolf Hitler was reigning and they need to go to New York for start new living there, but before it happens that Captain Von Trapp and Maria fell in love to each other and married. The children was very happy for the both of them and because Maria was their mother.

It is a story of young girl “Sara Crewe”, her father left her in dormitory of “Miss Minchin” for a reason. Her father “Captain Crew” left for a while because Sara need to study and her father had to do with their business or for a living. This movie can make you cry because of the drama scenes and the stars of this film are Liesel Matthews, Eleanor Bron, Liam Cunningham, Rusty Schwimmer, Arthur Malet, Taylor Fry and Heather DeLoach. This story is written by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

The plot of the story is Sara left by her father in the dormitory for she can study and her father can work. In the first place the situation in the dormitory is smooth, but it will came to the point that Sara’s father will die and thought of all people in the dormitory Sara have no reason to stay and study at Miss Minchin Dormitory School. But not that lucky Miss Minchin makes Sara one of the maids of the dormitory and they make Sara suffer especially Lavinia. There are times that Sara almost gives up, but by the support of her friends Sara never give up. The time come that Sara’s father has a close friend that her father told to take good care of Sara and love her as his own daughter. The friend of Sara’s friend was a millionaire and Sara and her friend and new family get happy ending.
